Restoring a youthful gaze can strip years off of any face. Dr. Antonio Tapia uses a comprehensive, four-step approach to enhancing the shape of the eye: first, he opens up the eye; then, he slants it or gives it an almond shape, if necessary; next, he eliminates bags and dark circles; and, finally, he revitalizes the region as a whole.
Everything depends on the needs and condition of each patient, on whether, in addition to beautifying the gaze itself, he or she needs to eliminate bags and dark circles. That said, Dr. Tapia admits that, lately, many women are coming to his office asking to have “Elsa Pataky’s eyes.” He explains how that is achieved:
"The first step is to remove excess skin and raise the arch of the brow, lifting the end by tacking it to the bone membrane. Next, a small piece of the upper eyelid is removed to accentuate the angle of the eye, slanting it slightly or giving it an almond shape using canthopexy (tacking the outer corner of the eyelids, or canthus, to the rim of the orbital bone)."
